Israeli Hebrew Institute

Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

The Israeli Hebrew Institute (“we”) runs a Hebrew course in which a real person listens to your recordings and answers you. This page says what we keep, why, and how to have it removed. It is written to be read.

What we collect

Your account: email address, name, phone number (optional: if you add it, we may reach you about offers, events and our community WhatsApp group), your level, time zone and learning goal, and the consent you gave on joining. If you sign in with Google, Facebook or Apple we receive your name and email from them, nothing else.

Your recordings: the voice and video answers you record in the app. They are stored privately and are listened to by the person who answers you (Tamir or an assigned guide) and by you. They are never analysed by a machine, never used to train anything, and never shared. That is the product.

How you use the app: which lesson and step you are on, your answers in the games, how long a step took, when you opened the day’s task. This is what lets us see where the course is hard and fix it. It is tied to your account, not sold, and not given to advertisers.

Measurement: we use PostHog, with servers in the European Union, to see how the app is used: the screens opened, where people came from, and replays of sessions so we can see where a lesson is confusing. Anything you type into a field is hidden in the replays, and PostHog knows you by a member number only, never by your name, email or phone. Before you are a member, it runs only if you accepted it on our website. Replays are kept for 30 days.

Who processes it for us

Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email), PostHog (measurement, in the EU), and Zoom (the weekly live session and your chevruta’s own room). Until Tamir has recorded every word himself, some audio you hear is generated from his recordings by ElevenLabs; your own voice is never sent there.

What we send you

The morning task by email from Sunday to Thursday, a note when someone answers you, and the Zoom link when you book the live hour. You can switch email off on your account page; the tasks keep coming in the app.

Keeping and deleting

Your recordings and progress stay for as long as you are a member, so you can come back to them. To delete your account and everything in it, go to Settings and press Delete my account, or email hello@israelihebrewinstitute.com from your account address; it is done within 14 days. You can ask for a copy of your data the same way.

Children

The course is for people 6 and over. Under 16, a parent or guardian signs the child up and agrees to this page for them.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we email you before it takes effect.
